Pre Proprioceptive Stimulation Post Proprioceptive Stimulation![]()
Protocol Followed for Taking Photos:
However, if the proprioceptive signal is too strong, it can result in overstimulation of the sympathetic nervous system (e.g., pupil dilatation) (See Animation below).(1) Camera mounted on tripod
(2) Patient is instructed to stand relaxed and look straight forward. Pre Stimulation photo is taken.
(3) Without the patient moving, the proprioceptive insoles are placed underneath the patient's feet.
(4) Patient flexes the knees 5-6 times, each time placing weight over the ball of the foot. This maneuver augments the proprioceptive stimulation.
(5) Patient is again instructed to stand relaxed and look straight forward. Second (Post Stimulation) photo is taken.
When the appropriate proprioceptive signal is applied to the bottom of the foot, it can reverse ptosis (open the eyes). However, if the signal is too strong, it can dilate the pupil(s) (e.g., over stimulate the sympathetic nervous system).
